Susanne Schnell, PhD was named 4D Lab Director and Assistant Professor of Radiology at Northwestern University. Her research interests include medical image processing, image processing workflow, cardiovascular and intracranial Magnetic Resonance imaging, in specific 4D Flow MRI. Dr. Schnell started working as a post-doctorial fellow at Northwestern University in August 2011 in the Cardiovascular Imaging section of the Department of Radiology. She succeeded to be finalist in the Young Investigator Award Competition of the International Society of Magnetic Resonance in 2013 and has a track record regarding international peer reviewed journals and succesful applications for extramural funding. Prior to joining Northwestern University, she was post-doctoral fellow in Freiburg, Germany at the University Medical Center in the field of diffusion brain MRI. Following a Masters of Science Degree in Biomedical Imaging (University of Applied Sciences Hamburg, Germany), Dr. Schnell achieved her PhD in Computer Science working on automatic segmentation of high resolution diffusion images of the brain using pattern recognition methods from the Albert Ludwigs University Freiburg (Germany).
